Who are we?:

We are a Decile 8 school (where 10 is in the most affluent areas) and have approximately 400 students. Our ethnic make-up is very diverse. We are exceptionally multi-cultural, with children from Asia, Eastern Europe, the Middle East and South Africa etc. We have specialist programmes in music and physical education. Our specialist library and information centre allows us to provide exceptional programmes in graphic design and information studies.

Howick is an older established area of Auckland and was originally the site of a Fencible Settlement. Its connection to Auckland used to be mostly by ship - hence the ship in our logo.

We offer:

· Classes of about 20 students in new entrants
· Class sizes of around 30 students in the senior school
· A strong emphasis on literacy and numeracy
· Teachers who are committed to the education of your child
· A positive learning environment, which addresses your child's learning style
· Up-to-date curriculum and teaching practices to ensure your child is educated for their   future

Our school provides:

· Information technology challenges to equip your child for the 21st century
· Computers in all classrooms with internet access
· Music programmes that include orchestra and choir
· Programmes to assist those students for whom English is a second language
· Life skills programmes for all classes in the school - Skills for Growing

Our school is fortunate to be able to offer a Montessori Education in the two classrooms run by the Howick Pakuranga Montessori Academy within the school. Click here for more information.
